STATUESQUE PRAGUE

STATUESQUE PRAGUE

Discover sculptures created through a game inspired by surrealists

As you explore Prague, you’ll come across hundreds of statues. But none like these! Animated photo-details of Prague’s statues, people, and objects create new, imaginative connections that will spark your creativity. This video projection is based on the surrealist game Cadavre exquis (“Exquisite Corpse”), developed in France around 1925. It soon spread to the Czech lands and became a popular pastime among Prague surrealists. Artists would draw shapes or write words on folded paper without seeing what the previous person contributed, following only a specific rule for their part.

Millions of people admire it yearly – but only you can see it from the front and the back simultaneously. WALK ON THE CHARLES BRIDGE

WALK ON THE CHARLES BRIDGE

Meet History – and Yourself – on Charles Bridge

The installation in the following space presents time-lapse videos of walking (from a pedestrian’s perspective) at various times of day and evening. The video is composed of multiple layers that create the illusion of a bridge that moves and lives. You will surely notice mysterious figures that newly appear on the bridge. Most notably, the imposing figure of the Golem, the animated statue of Charles IV, and a new, magnificent animation of Swedish soldiers fighting for our Charles Bridge. The projection is once again interactive. Just stand on the footprints on the floor behind the first corner, look into the camera, and you will instantly find yourself on the bridge. TOWERLESS PRAGUE

TOWERLESS PRAGUE

Discover Prague without its iconic towers.

At the next magical stop on your Prague journey, the skyline looks real – but it’s imaginary. Watch as the city’s towers lift off and fly away to unknown places. Even after they return, the cityscape feels slightly off. St. Vitus Cathedral lacks its neo-Gothic tower, the Vltava flows differently, and St. Nicholas Church in Malá Strana appears twice as large, with two bell towers.

YOUR PRAGUE CLOCK

YOUR PRAGUE CLOCK

Step inside the dials of Prague’s iconic clocks.

Even Prague’s street and tower clocks – of which there are nearly 600 – followed the design trends of their eras. At our photo kiosk, you can become part of a clock face, whether baroque or ultra-modern. Use your arms or legs to form clock hands and create your own time. You’ll have 15 seconds to capture your custom clock. Then go explore the city to find the real clocks with matching dials. Some are just a few steps away. Don’t miss the Baroque ceiling in this room – rediscovered by archaeologists during the 2024 renovation. And from the next exhibit room – DEFINITELY DON’T MISS! – you’ll get a BEST BEAUTIFUL DIRECT VIEW of the astronomical dial of the Old Town Clock. Our (Central European) time is shown by the golden hand on the outer Roman numeral ring. The Clock doesn’t account for daylight saving time – so in summer, it shows one hour less.

THE PRAGUE CAROUSEL

THE PRAGUE CAROUSEL

Fly in a circle above Prague and enjoy breathtaking… views from a bird’s perspective.

A 360-degree experience you can’t have in real life – but it’s completely real. The Prague Carousel – a semi-circular panoramic projection captured by a drone-mounted 360° camera – shows scenes above the Vltava River, from Vyšehrad to the new Troja Bridge. The filming method creates the illusion of a circular space above the city, offering surprising new perspectives, even on heavily touristed spots. The projection is interactive. Stand on the footprints, stretch out your arms, and turn your body to control the direction of flight. You will certainly be surprised by the surreal steampunk-style animations that will unexpectedly fly into the scene.

EYE TO EYE

EYE TO EYE

From our windows, you can look them straight in the Apostles eye.

It’s an open secret: the best view of the Apostles and the Astronomical Clock is from the windows of Praga Magica. But there’s more to see – to the left, for example, stands the Renaissance Minuta House, where Franz Kafka once lived. Thank you for visiting. After your tour, enjoy a refreshment at our restaurant 420, led by Michelin-starred chef Radek Kašpárek. You’ll find it in the Baroque courtyard of this very building – just visible from the staircase window.
